hero in uniform

Carlos L. Ramirez

Carlos grew up in Boyle Heights and La Puente. Carlos’s parents raised him and his brothers and sisters. His parents came from Mexico and worked hard to build a life for Carlos and his siblings. Carlos’s goal was to one day be able to look after his parents the way he had been looked after when he was younger.

At 17 Carlos enrolled in the Army and enjoyed being able to be a part of it. On one of his return visits, he married his girlfriend and they had lovely 2 boys.

After serving his time in the army, he came to work at Walker Foods. He worked at the company for 36 years! He was a part of the Walker Foods family and his dedication to the company was like no other.

Gloria (Assistant General Manager) – reflects that “Carlos would give his shirt off his back and would be there for anyone if they needed anything.”

Robert Walker (CEO)- “Trust, friend, the best anyone could have had. A man who put his heart and soul into his work here at Walker Foods. He was admired and loved by everyone who knew him and worked with him. He was like a son to my father and like a brother to me.”

Fulfilling his goal, Carlos looked after his mother and provided her with a comfortable life. It was all he could do to return the love she gave him by looking after him all the years.

Of course, Carlos had many hobbies but his favorite hobby by far was being with his 8 grandchildren. He loved spending time with them, talking to them, and anything that had to do with them; they were his world. His other hobbies included his coin collection, BBQ, and fishing.
